The accommodation is based around an 18th century stone cottage which retains many of its original features. Recently the property has been extended to offer modern, up-to-date facilities including a large conservatory which looks out over the Afon Honddu.
We offer 1 double room and the potential of a twin room in the same party (shared bathroom facilities). Both bedrooms are in the old part of the cottage and retain many original features.
All bedding is 100% top quality cotton to ensure comfort, and hypo-allergenic to ensure everyone will enjoy undisturbed sleep. The room is furnished in solid oak with a dressing table, wardrobe, two bedside cabinets with lamps, and a double bed with cottage style linen. All the original timbers are exposed lending an air of rustic history.
Robes and slippers are available and bedroom 1 has a hairdryer.
This is a lovely bright, airy room looking out onto the Skirrid mountain, and as with bedroom one, all the original features are exposed, giving the room real character. This room contains twin beds each with a bedside cabinet. There is also a wardrobe to share. The bedding is top quality, and hypo-allergenic as with bedroom 1. Both bedrooms can be occupied together for a discounted rate, making it ideal for small parties or a family.
Please note that we also have a third double bedroom available by special request. Please enquire for more details.
After good night’s sleep there is nothing more delightful than to take breakfast in the conservatory and watch the wildlife on the river outside. Cooked breakfasts are standard and sourced from locally produced fare-the eggs from our own free-range chickens. Why not try the trout cottage scrambled eggs-no trout but a wholesome blend of creamy eggs and chives. Should the weather have allowed there will also be some organic honey from our own bees available too. Or, if you are looking for a lighter breakfast there is a selection of cereals to choose from, fresh fruit and delicious homemade yogurt.
For those seeking a sweeter, more indulgent alternative there are home-made waffles with a variety of toppings including jam and clotted cream! To drink there is a variety of teas, freshly brewed coffee and fruit juices.
All of our food is good, honest and locally sourced real food, much of which is grown in our own garden!
The conservatory is fantastic, and even in cooler weather keeps bright and warm – making it ideal for relaxing after a long walk or looking at maps in preparation for one. Afternoon tea is available to be served here or on the deck, which offers a relaxing view of the river.
